Lighting 16 series in Bocci style

Series 16 is Bocci’s tribute to the delicate strength of porcelain. Unlike the blown-glass collections, here the shade is a thin, hand-crafted porcelain form, fired at high temperature to achieve a bone-white translucency. The shape is organic, almost petal-like, with a subtle fluted rim and a small opening at the bottom. Inside, a halogen or LED lamp casts light upward and outward, through the porcelain walls, creating a warm, creamy glow that mimics the softness of candlelight filtered through paper.

The porcelain is intentionally left with a slightly irregular surface – tiny dimples, fine cracks in the glaze, variations in thickness – so that each piece has a tactile, human quality. The light does not just illuminate; it reveals the texture of the material, making the shade itself a object of quiet beauty. A delicate brass or copper cap holds the lamp, and a twisted textile cord in white or black completes the fixture.

Series 16 is often used in clusters, hanging at different heights to create a floating cloud of light. It works beautifully in bedrooms, reading nooks, or intimate restaurant corners, where the warm, diffused glow invites relaxation. The combination of porcelain and light feels timeless – a modern interpretation of ancient Chinese porcelain lamps, but with Bocci’s signature minimalism and insistence on craft.
