Lighting 73 series in Bocci style
Series 73 is Bocci’s most architectural and graphic collection. Instead of blown-glass spheres, it uses a geometric wireframe structure – a spherical or ovoid cage made of thin, hand-formed steel or brass wire. Inside the cage, a single halogen or LED lamp sits at the center, casting shadows of the wire frame onto the walls and ceiling. The result is a light that is as much about shadow as it is about illumination.
The wireframes are available in various diameters, from intimate 20-centimetre spheres to monumental 1-metre globes. The finish can be polished brass, blackened steel, or raw copper, each interacting differently with the light. When multiple pieces are hung together, the overlapping wire patterns create a complex, lace-like network of lines and shadows that transform the architecture of the room.
Series 73 is a favourite of interior designers who love graphic contrast. It works beautifully in modern, industrial, or minimalist spaces, where the raw geometry of the wire adds a sculptural element. The light itself is direct and unshielded, casting a warm, intimate glow. It’s a series that celebrates structure, line, and the beauty of negative space – a pendant that is as much a drawing in the air as it is a light source.
